On Wednesday, July 15, Ivywood board members and families came together to work on the school grounds. Together, they weeded the playground, added topsoil and seed to the new green space and mulched both the playground and green space.
“We’ve been wanting additional space for our students to be able to run and be kids,” said Laura Anne VanSickle, Ivywood’s Community Relations & Fundraising Coordinator. “The project was funded by past school fundraising events (like our Walk-A-Thon). We’re so excited to install soccer nets on our new green space. This will give students even more space for creative play.”
Even a new Ivywood family stepped in to help! The Karasev family offered to bring their tractor to the school to help move the topsoil and mulch quickly. This is a testament to how invested families are in the Ivywood community.
These improvements are just the start of what Ivywood has in mind. Next on the list is outdoor chalkboards and a new “backyard” space!
