Recently, our 3rd graders were learning about the fact that there are more then a billion galaxies in our universe. Students created their own galaxies, based on the four main shapes of galaxies, (spiral galaxy, elliptical galaxy, barred spiral galaxy & irregular galaxy). Students then wrote about their galaxies; how big they are, how many stars their galaxy might have and what is unique about their galaxy. What would your galaxy look like?
