Meet Our Area Superintendent: Kurt Naber

Meet our new area superintendent, Kurt Naber. He has come to Ivywood Classical Academy with an enthusiasm for the classical education model.

Kurt has lived a life of serving children in charter schools. He started his career teaching at a charter school in Big Rapids, Michigan in 2001. In his past 18 years in education, 12 years were spent teaching middle school and high school math and six years were spent as a Kindergarten through eighth-grade principal/executive director. His intent was to be a middle school or high school math teacher. Never did he think that his journey would lead him into administrative leadership.

If you ask him now, he can’t imagine doing anything else.

“I’ve enjoyed the various roles that I have had the privilege of serving, and every new position has come with its challenges, but overall they have been positive and rewarding. The dynamics of each school day definitely keeps me on my toes,” Naber said.

“I’m grateful to be part of a great team at Choice Schools, and feel fortunate to work with great teachers and board members.”

More importantly, Naber is here to serve students. He said, “I love the relationships that are formed with students and families. It’s always rewarding to watch students grow from year to year and to be part of their story while they are part of the school community.”

Naber received his bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University and his masters from Jones International University. In his spare time, you can find him with his wife and two sons who are now students at West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science.
