March is Reading Month and our 1st grade class had a special treat when their Mystery Reader for the day was a pilot for Delta Airlines! This parent came to class in his pilot uniform and read the class a book all about planes and the airport. The students LOVED it and were so engaged! One student asked how the plane lifts up in the air even though it is so heavy and the pilot was quick to give an age appropriate explanation with a drawing on the whiteboard. It was such a great experience for the 1st grade class!
