Always try to make reading a positive! Too often we say things like, “You HAVE to read for 30 minutes a day.” This makes reading sound like a chore. Instead try, “Sweet! We have time to read. Let’s read on the porch with a popsicle or make a fort with blankets and read in there.” Additionally, be sure that your child sees you reading and hears you talking about your favorite life-changing novels. Reading is not a punishment but a reward!
